ABOUT THE CONSUMMATE FLUTIST
The Consummate Flutist opened on the beautiful campus of Carnegie Mellon University in 2013 under the direction of Alberto Almarza, Jeanne Baxtresser, Julie McGough and Soo-Kyung Park. For 10 years, TCF has held multiple classes a year, including a 5 day summer masterclass every June filled with inspiring masterclasses, lectures, and workshops with the TCF faculty and master teachers from around the country. During the class attendees can also visit exhibitor and sponsor booths with flute makers and music retailers.
In addition to the annual summer masterclasses, TCF also holds "The Art of Teaching" (spring) and "Achieving Your Best in College Auditions" (fall). The next College Audition class will take place in 2024.
During the masterclasses, performers work with our staff pianist, Vahan Sargsyan, to perform for the master teachers in solo and orchestral masterclasses. In addition, all students attend daily lectures and workshops that will both inform and inspire. All performers must audition to perform in the masterclasses.
For students and teachers that wish to watch the classes (in person and online) without performing, there is an auditor option to observe all of the classes. In addition, the Lesson Participant package includes two 30-minute private lessons with the TCF faculty!
Come see why TCF is one of the premiere flute classes in the country.

"Vent"
Dear Kanichi:
I am delighted to share that my debut album 'VENT' was released on the Bright Shiny Things Label.
Vent, frames two world premiere recordings by Timo Andres and Gabriela Lena Frank within the chiaroscuro of Schubert, Prokofiev, and the title work by David Lang.
As always, I am proud to perform on my beautiful Nagahara flute and the role it has played in shaping my own artistic voice.
Best wishes,
Catherine
