Trial Policy

All trials are done by appointment. For insurance purposes we require a major credit card  number to be provided during the trial (VISA, MC or AMEX only). Information will be strictly confidential and will not be shared with any other companies or outside parties. The total trial fee will be charged to the card before the shipment is sent. We will only charge your credit card for the trial fee. However, in the unlikely event of damage to the instrument during the trial, all repairs will be charged to your credit card at our standard repair rate of  $90/hr.

There is a required fee of $75.00 for headjoint trials and $85.00 for flute trials which will cover shipping to you, insurance, and a pre-paid UPS return shipping label.  We ship via UPS air  (Next Day and Second Day delivery), our preferred carrier. Shipments to the Western and Southern U.S. might incur a $5 to $25 shipping cost increase for  trials. All shipments are fully insured for up to $100,000. Shipments over $100,000 will require additional insurance to be paid by the customer. No return shipping insurance is necessary. After the trial period has ended,  the flute is to be returned in the original shipping packaging using the UPS prepaid shipping label. DO NOT ship by any means of ground transportation. Trial customers are liable for any damage if ground shipping is used. Please do not ship back on a Friday (this avoids over-the-weekend storage and temperature issues).

The 7-day trial begins when you receive the instrument(s). Customers who fail to return the instrument(s) within 7 days without prior notice or arrangements are subject to a late charge of  0.15% of the total value of the shipment per day. Ex: $9,000 x 0.0015 = $13.50 per day. The credit card provided may also be used to cover these charges.

For more information or to set up a trial, please see our Trials page.

Order and Purchase Policy

A  50% non-refundable deposit is required to start construction of the instrument order with a check or money order payable to NNI Inc./ Nagahara Flutes (If for any  reason Nagahara Flutes is unable to carry  through with the customer order after the down payment has been provided, we will fully refund the the down payment). The remaining balance is due after completion prior to shipping or pick-up of the instrument. Please note that according to state law  a 6.25% sales tax  must be added to any  items picked-up or shipped within the state of Massachusetts.

For instrument with Silver mechanism: the final purchase price is determined on the date when the order is placed according to the price list in effect at that moment. If the customer is not ready to begin the production of their order at the time we reach their name in the waiting list, the customer may  request a maximum of  3 month delay while keeping their price lock. Any delays further than the 3 months will result in an annulment of  the price lock, and the  prices that are of effect at that moment would then apply to the order.

For instrument with Gold mechanism:  Kanichi Nagahara is the only one who makes the All Gold flutes (tube, toneholes and mechanism). For this reason, the waiting period is significantly longer than those made with Silver mechanism. The final purchase price is determined by  the date the order starts production. Once we reach your order, the staff will contact you with the price quote at which time you are free to accept or decline the production start.

Estimated delivery dates and customer delivery date request are taken under consideration but are not guaranteed. Nagahara Flutes has a strict “quality over time” work policy to ensure each customer receives a top quality instrument.

Please see our Ordering Information for further details or to make an order reservation.

Maintenance and Repairs Policy

Nagahara Flutes gladly  provides 3 free COA services to all direct customers to be used within the first three years of ownership. International Direct Customers:  Due to distance, we are not able to offer maintenance and repair services to direct customers living outside the continental USA. Please be advised that Nagahara flutes will not ship or receive instrument from abroad for repairs unless it is from a dealer. The free COA’s and any of the repair services will be accepted only if shipped from an address in continental USA or brought personally to us. For this reason we recommend purchasing from an authorized international dealer near you to insure better quality service for maintenance and repairs if living abroad.

Please see our Maintenance & Repairs for more information on our services.

Product Warranty

Metal Parts & Mechanism- Nagahara Flutes offers a Life Time Warranty on every instrument's metal parts. We will also cover the cost of repair for any manufacturing default in the flute's mechanism (shipping is not included). However, if any metal parts of the instrument are replaced by anyone other than Nagahara Flutes the warranty will be voided.

Pads- Nagahara Flutes proudly makes all the pads used in our instrument. We offer TRIAD and or traditional felt pads. Our flutes are designed with an exact fitting, shape, and size tailored specifically for these two pad options. Our warranty covers damaged pads due to manufacturing defect, but not due to normal wear and tear from playing. Because we are the only company who makes and uses TRIAD pads, not everyone has the experience and developed skill to work with them. The TRIAD Pads are very flexible pads and need extra time and a precise skill for proper adjustment. However, it is this extra flexibility that gives the Nagahara Flutes their signature sound. Should the customer choose to change pads to another brand the Pads warranty will be voided. *Nagahara Flutes is not responsible for pad adjustments done by unauthorized technicians.
